The Dark Knight makes another appearance! The Woolworth building in NYC was the gathering place for hordes of Gotham citizens as a gigantic bat signal was displayed. Giving away T-shirts and faux newspapers, the movie's foot soldiers riled up the crowds as a live stream of the event was broadcast over at citizensforbatman.org.
Okay, we get it Warner Bros.! Everyone loves Batman. Everyone is going to go see The Dark Knight. We don't wanna hear another peep from you till July 18 at 12:01 A.M. Promise? kthnx.

In honor of Indiana Jones and the
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (opening today) I decided that I would eat
nothing but Indiana Jones-branded foods all day. Breakfast, lunch, and
dinner. There will be no time for love, Dr. Jones, because I have a
digestive system I need to strain to its breaking point.
For breakfast, I started out with the official Indiana Jones cereal.
Essentially bargain basement Cocoa Puffs, the Indy cereal also had some
of the vaguest cereal marshmallows I've ever seen:

1. Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd)
Movie: Back to the Future
Most notable invention: The flux capacitor
If the good doc hadn't fallen off of his toilet and banged his head, he never would've envisioned the flux capacitor and Marty never would've been able to have his wacky adventures. Never mind the fact that he didn't know the proper pronunciation of gigawatt (it's GIG-a-watt, not JIG-a-watt), his modified Delorean was the crowning jewel on top of a career filled with inventions worthy of even the maddest scientists.

The skinny:
By now, the vast majority of you are aware that you can watch TV and movies on the internet for free, but doing it legally is a different story. Hulu.com is an effort by the big media boys to compete with the pirates and after a week of operation (they were in closed beta before last wednesday) it's looking really promising.
The good:
The list of provided content from Universal and Fox is amazing. There full episodes and clips of a ton of shows as well as a bunch of complete movies. The episodes are extremely fresh, often getting the newest stuff soon after it airs. Load times were fast over the T1 here at the office as well as over the WiFi at my house. Even the public WiFi served up Married With Children episodes with relative ease. The commercials are surprisingly unintrusive, running infrequently and only for 30 seconds when they do show up. You can scroll around the video and find specific parts without having to rewatch the ads, too.
The bad:
The option to download it, even with the unskppable ads, to a portable player would be huge. The selection isn't up to par with the illegal sites, but if it grows, it certainly could be.

Lots of people fear technology. The factory worker who doesn't want to be replaced by a robot, the record industry executive who's too stupid to comprehend anything past an $18.99 CD, or movie executives who think heavy DRM and lots of hoop-jumping is fine with people that just want to watch movies on their fucking portable devices… But I digress. Hollywood and Japan express their fear of technological advancement in the most literal sense possible. These flicks are the most ridiculous examples of gadgets gone scary.
8. Chopping Mall
Evil technology: Robots
There's a huge list of movies that prove people's fear of robots: Blade Runner, The Matrix, I, Robot, AI, The Terminator, the "Itchy & Scratchy Land" episode of The Simpsons, etc. Chopping Mall is the story of some idiots locked in a mall with a robotic security system that goes out of control and starts decapitating everything. It's terrible, but great at the same time.
How to easily defeat the evil: Have you seen any robots lately? No, you haven't. And if you have, they were probably entertaining children or falling down the stairs. I'm pretty sure Pleo, the cute robotic dinosaur, isn't going to be enslaving me any time soon.
