Her job entails interviewing musicians she sometimes can’t stand (“The Strokes were privileged children”), anointing hotties (“Fergie—talk about a bad girl gone good”), and withstanding the high-pitched screams of rabid teenagers.
Now Lyndsey Rodrigues, the new ringmistress of MTV’s afternoon Total Request Live broadcast, is contemplating her own fresh celebrity status. “Paparazzi digging through my trash? I really hope my life never gets to the Britney Spears point,” she says.
Lindsey’s already survived her share of embarrassing on-screen moments. Before moving to New York City in 2007, she helmed an Aussie adventure show called Full Tank. “I tried to learn how to surf, bike, and snowboard on live TV,” she says. “I failed at all three.” Another memorable Down Under incident? “While camping I fed a kangaroo some bread, and suddenly there were 10 kangaroos wrestling me for the food.” Even a transfer to the States hasn’t curbed her fondness for wildlife: “If left to my own devices, I’m out every night.”
